The Bob Club

The BobClub is a club dedicated to all the bobs out there. There is an impressive list of bobs found at http://thebobclub.com/allbobs.html. I stumbled upon this list because I was searching for my grandpa, Robert "Bob" Hantla who played football for the San Francisco 49ers. His name can be found on the allbobs list. Whoever did this took a ton of time to make a site for which he is paying for the domain and the server. This is what the world wide web is all about. Congratulations, Bob. What a Waste of Web!

Even More John Piper Torrents

This is a follow-up to a previous post  on the release of massive quantities of John Piper sermons which were previously only available via the DesiringGod Store on the web through torrents. At http://shafovaloff.com/sermons/ even more sermons have been posted than were originally available. Please go and download and then keep your torrent client open so that others can share in the wealth. At the same time I would like to comment on John Piper and DesiringGod's generosity. It is standard fare on the internet for there to be a minor fee associated with the download of sermons. This is understandable to cover the costs of recording, distribution, server maintenance, etc, but DesiringGod has consistently been amazing at providing free resources. They prove, not only in word, but in deed that the bottom line is not an issue. DesiringGod is a ministry; it is not a business. John Piper's teaching has changed my life--aside from the teaching of my local pastors and leaders his teaching and life has been the most influential in shaping my own--and he shows that he practices what he preaches. Even while the radio side is under severe financial pressure, they still grant permission to distribute whole sermon series on a massive scale, a move that will definitely cut into their sales and probably cost money. He preaches God's sovereignty and that pastors are not professionals, and he has time and time again walked the talk. Thank you very much.
